Round 3 of the IRacing V8 Supercars Americas series saw us head back to the venue of Circuit Of The America's. After a nightmare leadup in the premier series the team wanted to bounce back strong from the poor results.
Marlon McMullen: Started 4th - Fin 4th
After a few difficult trying races, Marlon headed into this week with a lot more confidence which saw him bounce back to qualify 4th. On the opening lap Marlon would tuck his car on the inside of Beau Cubis in which he made a move which resulted in lifting up to running in 3rd by the end of the first lap. From 1st to 4th the gap was separated by less than 2 seconds in the opening stages of the race. As the race would slowly start to pan out, Marlon's tyres started to give way which resulted in Beau wanting to claim back 3rd position. Rather than make a big battle out of it, Marlon chose to let Beau pass relatively easy as tried to focus on bringing the car home in which he salvaged a solid 4th position. He also claimed the fastest lap of the race after the pit stops in which he was very proud to see!
Curtis Chippeway : Started 10th - Fin 5th
Earlier in the week a new set of pedals rocked up for Curtis. As he has been slowly adjusting getting used to them he couldn't quite put downt he qualifying lap in which he wanted too which unfortunately forced him to start back in 10th. Rather than lamenting on a woeful qualifying, Curtis stayed positive and avoided the carnage on the opening laps to see himself running up in 7th by the 3rd lap. As the race slowly started to develop for Curtis, he elected to pit at the same time as Marlon. He would then have an amazing stouche with Sam Sutton to the chequered flag in which Curtis came out victorious in that battle resulting in a solid 5th position and securing ever all important Team Championship points.
We head to Oulton Park next week for Round 4.
